Amy Helm became the airport manager of Glenwood Springs Airport[KGWS] in April of 2017 after interviewing and presenting a petition with the signatures of 60 local pilots who supported her candidacy. The daughter of a private pilot, Amy didn’t set out to be an airport manager, but nonetheless she has devoted her time, determination and passion to this Colorado airport nestled in the heart of the Rockies.
Aviation has always been a part of Amy Helm’s life. And now that she’s added airport manager to her job titles at the Glenwood Municipal Airport (she also works as a plane mechanic at Aircraft Repair, LLC, which operates out of the airport), she’s focused on making sure everyone in the Valley can enjoy that same level of accessibility to her passion.
In August, we will be hosting the first Aviation Expo – a celebration of aviation, with the focus on inviting the community.
There will be a 5k Race, a Kids 1k Race, airplane rides, live music, food, booths, aircraft and helicopters on display, motorized skateboard show, a draw for prizes, and lots of fun!
We will be selling Glenwood Springs Airport T-shirts and stickers (with our newly designed GWS Airport Logo), and talking about the many benefits of the airport with the community.
